The Tea Maiden

Digital Attempt #2. Linework is two years old. D: Why am I learning digital on old sketches? I don't know. I guess I always wanted to submit this picture but never finished it, and this seemed like a good opportunity. HOWEVER because the linework is ancient, I had to crop the hell out of it to get rid of some very embarrassing mistakes, so I'm sorry about that. I'm not skillful enough to fix this stuff yet.

Anyhow. The digital coloring. Please let me know how I can do better. I experimented with the gradient tool on their ears and wings, because all Tsing wings and ears fade like this. In retrospect, I should have made her colors lighter, everything is blending together.

The Characters
The girl is Sha Xin Ta, a Tsing princess of the Sha clan who has a passion for making and blending tea. After being badly injured in an underclass revolt, she was sent up to the space station for treatment.

The man is Arin Bower, a security officer on the station and a randombred Tsing (meaning he's a bat born to non-bat parents in a country where they don't usually occur. In his case, the Ephresian equivalent of Australia.) He took it upon himself to look after a lost and frightened Xin Ta, and they ended up together.
