I didn’t notice until I began coloring that the spider webbing in panel three is backwards. I can’t flip it without Mairi’s book bag being on the wrong side, so…I screwed up. ._. Sorry. Also, several of my markers are dying, so the coloring job is a lil chunky. I guess this means I either have to learn a paint program or come into some money so I can replace the markers.
ANYWAY. This is the first half of a comic about how the Team Seeker members met one another. Mairi and Malthak are off on the wrong foot. XD That awkward-looking weapon Mairi is using is called a bhuj, which is a fun word to say. Bhuj bhuj bhuuuuuuj. She never uses the same weapon twice, so I decided to go with whatever came to mind. Her hood normally wouldn’t cover her eyes, I’m just doing it for dramatic effect, and to confuse Malthak. She’d also normally be wearing boots to keep her hooves from clacking around, but I wanted to draw them. Hooves!  Mairi’s story can be found here. [link] Malthak’s story can be found here. OK. First, I love how you did the hoo- no, first, the poses! Absolutely amazing how energetic you drew all the poses, and laid out the panels. Magnificently done! I /particularly/ like how her hands are laid out on the staff in the second panel, it gives a good sense that she's just swirling the polearm all over the place. I love how she's holding her cloak around her in the third panel, too. Good attention to detail how her pose is the same in panels 4 and 5.
OK. /now/ I LOVE THE HOOVES! They're like what I was thinking, but you did them so awesomely! *^_^* I'm totally going to kife from this to see if I can draw them similarly! Thank you! *^_^* (BTW: She got caught in Megamuck so had to take her boots off and leave them behind in the goo)
I also love how you drew the fuzzy ears, and having the hood that close, while not *technically* realistic, is totally appropriate for the thematics when she's fighting. You just *KNOW* that bag is full of books she just salvaged from Robotropolis.
Malthak's looking nice and creepy. I love the speckles around the ends of his legs. Mairi should be all right in facing him down as long as the sticky webbing doesn't pull her hood off... Part of me wonders if Malthak shouldn't perhaps have speckles on his shoulders.. I can't help but think that'd look really ... Wow. *ahem* I never thought I'd think that way about a spider. *^_^* *coughs* But he is pretty. *^_^* Mairi might have a teensy crush, once she gets to know him. *coughs*
